Reckoning
In the Fall of 2022, Nathan Beverage was commissioned by the highly acclaimed Minneapolis-based conceptual artist Harriet Bart to write original music for her art installation titled RECKONING. The “mystically enchanting” installation was showcased at NewStudio Gallery in St. Paul, Minnesota and was hailed by Minnesota’s StarTribune for its “evocative soundscape.” The soundscape is mostly comprised of audio recordings that Nathan captured at a cemetery that were then digitally processed and manipulated.
Artist’s Notes:
“We live in a broken world. Reckoning is a cautionary tale. The narratives I create are told through objects and images. Some of the objects in Reckoning are relics of the past; others, artifacts of the present. Objects in this installation also are from the natural world, collected cultural commodities, or created or altered in the studio.”
